ART REVEAL: Roüwen (House of Boreal)
It's prettier than I even imagined!
Kateryna was FANTASTIC to work with. Her intuition was so on par with what I was envisioning. While there are a couple liberties or deviations from my own imagination (of course), I am beyond impressed with her first attempt at translation excerpts into reality.
MY FAVS:
The lumin / bioluminescence - Admittedly, I do imagine the lumin more opalescent than blue... I adore how Kateryna wove the threads so naturally into the scene. She also did a great job at showing how it comes through the bark, the stone, etc. I probably could have had her add even more, but this was a perfect introduction to the concept!
Root Systems & Hollows - Trying to explain excavated root systems of monolithic trees, large enough to house shops, trades and taverns, is a tall order. But Kateryna somehow managed to see what I was explaining. I love how effortlessly she made entering under the bases of the holdreheiim!
Home Design - Obviously this isn't exactly what I'd depicted, however Kateryna's interpretation of how the Boreali build there home vertically up the holdreheiim was really inventive! I never thought to picture it that way, with the super tall awnings and round terraces. I love it so much I now want to weave that into future imagery and description! It also gives the Boreali their own aesthetic, vs. always borrowing from Northern European influences.
I do miss more of the stonework, glittering gem-crusted details, etc. but overall, I am blown away.
I hope you all love this as much as I do! Next up.... FARAJI! (it was your second-most popular vote in our poll, no need to make you redo it LOL)
